Grimmway Produce GroupOverview: GRIMMWAY PRODUCE GROUP ARVIN, CALIFORNIA JOB TITLE: LOGISTICS INTERNSHIP LOCATION: BAKERSFIELD AREA REPORTS TO: DEPARTMENT MANAGER PURPOSE: The Logistics Internship is designed to provide undergraduate, post-graduate, and graduate-level students pursuing relevant fields of study with meaningful, hands-on experience supporting transportation and logistics operations. Interns will gain exposure to managed customer loads, shipment tracking and tracing, transportation data, operational processes, and emerging technologies, with a primary project focused on exploring and developing an AI-assisted solution to improve tracking and tracing of managed loads to customers. The paid summer internship typically runs 10–12 weeks between May and August, with support available for students seeking college credit. Additional Info: MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Currently pursuing an undergraduate, post-graduate, or graduate degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Business Administration, Operations Management, Agricultural Business, or a related field. Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employment sponsorship. Interest in logistics, transportation, supply chain, artificial intelligence, automation, data analytics, process improvement, or technology-enabled business solutions. Experience or academic exposure to artificial intelligence, automation, programming, data analytics, or AI-assisted application development preferred. Interest in applying AI and technology to a real-world business and logistics problem. Basic understanding of transportation, logistics, supply chain, or business operations preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook. Ability to work with data, identify trends, troubleshoot issues, and translate business needs into potential technology solutions. Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with both operational and technical teams. Ability to learn new systems and technologies and adapt to changing project requirements. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a cross-functional environment. Reliable transportation to assigned work location(s) and company facilities as required. Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a driving record that meets company policy, insurance, and DMV requirements. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment screening consistent with applicable state and federal law. Ability to participate in the 10–12 week summer internship program, including Student Programs-sponsored professional development activities and intern events. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Support day-to-day Logistics activities and department projects related to transportation, managed loads, and customer deliveries. Assist with tracking and tracing managed loads to customers, identifying shipment status, delays, exceptions, and other transportation-related information. Support the development, testing, and evaluation of an AI-assisted tracking and tracing solution designed to improve visibility of managed customer loads. Work with Logistics team members to understand the current tracking and tracing process, identify manual steps or information gaps, and determine opportunities for AI and automation. Collect, organize, validate, and analyze transportation and shipment data needed to support the AI-assisted tracking and tracing project. Research available AI capabilities, automation opportunities, and technology solutions that could improve shipment visibility, exception identification, communication, or operational efficiency.
