Logistics Coordinator

The Logistics Coordinator supports Datamars’ North America supply chain operation by coordinating domestic and international shipments, carrier/vendor communication, customs documentation, shipment tracking, expediting, and freight cost control. This role helps ensure freight moves accurately, compliantly, and cost-effectively while keeping stakeholders informed of shipment status, risks, and delays.
Key Accountabilities
Coordinate parcel, LTL, FTL, air, ocean, courier, and cross-border shipments for inbound, outbound, customer, supplier, and internal transfer needs
Prepare and maintain shipping and customs documentation, including invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, airway bills, certificates of origin, and broker instructions
Track, monitor, and expedite shipments using carrier portals, broker updates, ERP records, and internal tracking tools
Work with carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, suppliers, customers, and internal teams to resolve delays, documentation issues, delivery exceptions, and cost concerns
Support freight cost control through carrier option review, invoice validation, accessorial monitoring, and escalation of avoidable costs
Maintain accurate logistics records and assist with carrier performance, claims, transit time review, and process improvement
Skills/Abilities
Strong organization, follow-through, accuracy, and ability to manage multiple shipments, deadlines, and exceptions
Clear written and verbal communication with internal teams, carriers, customs brokers, suppliers, and customers
Working knowledge of transportation modes, freight terminology, carrier processes, import/export documentation, and customs coordination
Problem-solving mindset with urgency to escalate and resolve shipment delays, service failures, or documentation issues
Comfort using ERP systems, carrier portals, Microsoft Excel, shipment tracking tools, and shared reporting files
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, International Trade, or related field preferred
Two (2) or more years of experience in logistics, transportation coordination, freight forwarding, import/export operations, customer service, purchasing, or similar supply chain role preferred
Familiarity with ERP systems, shipment tracking platforms, freight documentation, customs brokers, carriers, and Microsoft Excel preferred
Working Environment
Work is primarily performed in an office, logistics, warehouse, or distribution environment with frequent computer, phone, email, and system use. Occasional time in warehouse or shipping areas may be required to verify shipment details, documentation, labeling, or freight status.
Physical Requirements
The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, use hands and fingers, and operate a computer and standard office equipment. The role may occasionally require standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting or moving light to moderate packages or documents.
Travel
Limited travel may be required for supplier, carrier, warehouse, or Datamars site visits.
