Job Summary Join our dynamic team as a Locomotive Lube Technician, where your hands-on skills and mechanical expertise will keep our fleet running smoothly and efficiently. In this vital role, you will perform routine lubrication, maintenance, and minor repairs on locomotives to ensure optimal performance and safety. Your proactive approach and attention to detail will contribute directly to the reliability of our rail operations, supporting the safe and timely movement of freight across our network. Responsibilities Conduct regular lubrication of locomotive components using appropriate oils and greases to prevent wear and ensure smooth operation. Perform routine inspections to identify potential mechanical issues or leaks, addressing them promptly to minimize downtime. Utilize hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment such as ohmmeters to diagnose electrical systems and perform minor repairs. Assist with basic vehicle maintenance tasks including replacing filters, belts, hoses, and other small parts as needed. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including lubrication schedules, inspections, and repairs performed. Follow safety protocols diligently during all maintenance procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues. Support team efforts by communicating effectively about equipment status and any issues requiring further attention. What We're Looking For Self-starter with the ability to work independently Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Prior experience in a similar role preferred Willingness to respond to occasional call-outs Ability to travel as needed Requirements Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to understand locomotive systems and components. Experience using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment such as ohmmeters for electrical testing. Familiarity with vehicle maintenance procedures and safety standards related to heavy machinery. Ability to read technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics accurately. Excellent attention to detail with a proactive approach to identifying potential issues early. Physical ability to perform manual tasks including lifting heavy parts, standing for extended periods, and working in various environmental conditions. Prior experience working with locomotive or vehicle maintenance is preferred but not mandatory; willingness to learn is essential.
