Our company recycles cardboard (including corrugated cardboard), office paper, and other materials at our recycling center. Yard Driver / Swap Driver (12pm-10PM) Royal Oak Recycling Position: Yard Driver / Swap Driver Schedule: Monday – Friday | 12:00 PM – 10:00 PM Additional Hours: Saturdays as needed based on operational demands Position Summary The Yard Driver / Swap Driver is responsible for managing trailer movements within Royal Oak Recycling facilities and performing trailer exchanges at customer locations. This position focuses on removing full trailers and replacing them with empty trailers to ensure continuous loading, unloading, and recycling operations. The driver will perform trailer swaps both onsite at company plants and offsite at customer facilities. The position requires flexibility to transition between yard operations and local customer trailer exchanges based on daily operational needs. The overall goal is to maintain trailer availability, prevent operational delays, improve equipment utilization, and ensure timely removal of loaded trailers. Duties and ResponsibilitiesYard Operations & Plant Trailer Swaps Move, position, and organize trailers throughout Royal Oak Recycling plant yards. Remove full trailers from designated loading areas and replace them with empty trailers. Transport loaded trailers to designated unloading, processing, or staging areas within the facility. Position empty trailers at loading docks and other designated locations to maintain continuous plant operations. Coordinate with plant personnel to identify trailers that are full and ready for exchange. Maintain adequate empty trailer availability throughout the facility. Organize and stage trailers to maintain efficient yard operations and prevent congestion. Verify trailer numbers and locations to maintain accurate equipment tracking. Perform proper coupling, uncoupling, and trailer securement procedures. Customer Trailer Swap Operations Travel to assigned customer locations to exchange full trailers with empty trailers. Deliver empty trailers to customer facilities and remove loaded trailers for transportation back to the assigned Royal Oak Recycling plant or designated destination. Complete scheduled and unscheduled customer trailer swaps as directed by dispatch or management. Verify trailer numbers and ensure the correct trailers are exchanged. Properly position empty trailers in designated customer loading areas. Communicate with customer personnel when necessary to coordinate trailer exchanges. Ensure customer locations have available empty trailers to prevent interruptions in recycling operations. Notify dispatch of completed swaps, customer delays, equipment concerns, or additional trailer needs. Respond to priority trailer swap requests when customers reach capacity or require immediate service. Maintain professional conduct while operating at customer facilities. Daily Operational Responsibilities Review daily trailer swap assignments and yard movement priorities with dispatch or plant management. Coordinate onsite plant trailer exchanges with scheduled customer trailer swaps. Complete assigned trailer movements in a timely and efficient manner. Monitor trailer availability and communicate potential shortages. Perform required pre-trip and post-trip inspections of tractors and trailers.
