About the Role Trystum Sourcing Specialists is seeking an experienced, hands-on Licensed Customs Broker / Senior Entry Writer to manage customs entries from start to finish. In addition to processing entries, you will provide technical guidance, regulatory oversight, support the import team, and potentially serve as the company's designated Corporate Customs Broker License Holder . This is not a purely managerial or compliance-only position. The ideal candidate will actively prepare customs entries, handle complex import/export transactions, communicate directly with clients, and mentor junior entry writers. Key Responsibilities Customs Entry Processing: Prepare, review, transmit, and monitor air, ocean, and border-crossing customs entries end-to-end. Handle entry summaries, In-Bond transactions, ISF submissions, post-entry corrections, and respond to CBP holds/exams. Regulatory Compliance & Oversight: Ensure compliance with CBP regulations (19 CFR), PGAs, and company protocols. Research HTS classification, valuation, and country of origin. Support compliance under CBP's Responsible Supervision and Control guidelines. Client & Account Support: Manage customer accounts, address documentation/classification queries, explain compliance requirements, and coordinate with carriers, terminals, and warehouses. Team Guidance & Mentorship: Review entries prepared by Import Specialists and Entry Clerks. Train, mentor, and guide less-experienced team members on compliance, procedures, and system usage. Process Improvement: Identify recurring entry errors, optimize workflows, standardize recordkeeping practices, and reduce preventable CBP holds or rejections. Required Qualifications Active U.S. Customs Broker License (LCB) (Required). 5+ years of hands-on customs brokerage and import-compliance experience. Active experience personally preparing customs entries from start to finish. Strong working knowledge of CBP regulations (19 CFR), ACE, HTS classification, ISF, and PGA requirements. Proven experience with both air and ocean import procedures. Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to manage high-volume, time-sensitive priorities. Must live within a realistic daily commuting distance of Houston, TX 77090 and be available for full-time on-site work. Preferred Qualifications 10+ years of customs brokerage experience. Extensive hands-on experience with Descartes (One View) customs software. Experience with ACE and DIS systems. Background in training, mentoring, or leading a small customs brokerage team. Commodity experience with machinery, electronics, automotive, chemicals, or PGA-regulated goods. Bilingual (English / Spanish) is a strong plus.
