Landscape Yard & Shop Manager

Purpose The Shop & Yard Manager leads the safe, efficient, and organized operation of the company shop and yard, including fleet and equipment readiness, maintenance coordination, inventory, asset control, and yard security. This role connects Fleet, Safety, Facilities, Purchasing, and Operations so crews have safe, reliable resources when needed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities · Manage daily shop and yard operations, including organization, cleanliness, security, and efficiency. · Prioritize the daily repair workflow, including preventive maintenance, vendor repairs, quality checks, and return-to-service, to minimize downtime. · Ensure vehicles, equipment, tools, and materials are inspected, staged, and ready before dispatch. · Maintain accurate work orders, maintenance records, and asset assignments in Fleetio. · Manage inventory of materials, parts, and shop supplies, including receiving, storage, and replenishment. · Control equipment check-out, asset transfers, and reporting of damage or loss. · Ensure safe storage, handling, and disposal of fuel, chemicals, and waste, and monitor fuel use. · Maintain yard layout, security controls, and housekeeping/5S standards through routine inspections. · Supervise mechanics, yard personnel, and drivers, and manage shop and yard vendors. · Coordinate response to breakdowns, towing, spills, and severe weather. · Partner with Operations, Fleet, Safety, and Purchasing on budgeting, repair-versus-replace decisions, and process improvements. · Track and report shop and yard performance metrics. · Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Experience · Previous experience in yard, warehouse, landscape, construction, fleet, or operations management preferred. · Previous experience supervising shop, yard, warehouse, or fleet personnel preferred. · Experience with parts, inventory, and shop supply management preferred. Licenses and Certifications · Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. Skills and Proficiencies · Knowledge of landscape equipment, tools, materials, and supplies strongly preferred. · Working knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and basic vehicle/equipment mechanical systems preferred. · Experience with Fleetio or a comparable fleet management/work-order system preferred. · Strong organizational, inventory management, and operational planning skills. · Ability to independently prioritize and make decisions in a fast-paced environment. · Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. · Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
