Landscape Construction Manager / Superintendent – High-End Residential

Our projects include complete outdoor environments incorporating grading, drainage, irrigation, planting, masonry, concrete, pavers, retaining walls, outdoor structures, lighting, utilities, and coordination with specialized subcontractors. We are looking for an experienced construction professional to take ownership of day-to-day construction operations and help us continue to grow while maintaining a high standard of craftsmanship and client service. The Position The Construction Manager / Superintendent will report directly to the company owner and oversee multiple residential landscape construction projects throughout the Bay Area. This is not a position assigned to a single project. You will be responsible for coordinating our active construction schedule, supporting our foremen and field crews, managing subcontractors, solving field problems, maintaining quality standards, and helping ensure projects move efficiently from construction handoff through completion. The right person is organized, technically knowledgeable, comfortable making decisions independently, and equally capable of communicating with construction crews, subcontractors, vendors, designers, and homeowners. Responsibilities Develop and manage the overall construction schedule across multiple active projects. Schedule and coordinate company construction crews, foremen, equipment, and subcontractors. Visit active projects regularly to monitor progress, workmanship, efficiency, and quality. Support foremen with layout, sequencing, construction details, material needs, and field problem-solving. Review construction plans, details, specifications, and scopes of work prior to and during construction. Coordinate subcontractors including concrete, masonry, electrical, plumbing, pools, structures, specialty fabrication, and other trades. Solicit and review subcontractor proposals and assist with subcontractor selection. Coordinate deliveries, materials, equipment, access, staging, and other project logistics. Order or coordinate procurement of certain construction materials. Maintain project schedules and identify potential delays before they affect the overall project. Communicate professionally with homeowners regarding scheduling, construction progress, access, upcoming work, and routine field decisions. Identify scope changes and potential change-order work and communicate those items to ownership before proceeding. Conduct regular quality-control inspections and manage project punch lists and closeout. Maintain clean, professional, safe jobsites. Help develop and improve company construction procedures as the company grows. Mentor and support foremen and help develop the capabilities of our field team. Participate in regular construction planning meetings with ownership. Qualifications We are more interested in demonstrated construction ability and leadership experience than a particular degree. Ideal candidates will have: 7+ years of landscape, residential, or related construction experience. 3+ years of experience managing multiple crews, projects, subcontractors, or field operations. Strong knowledge of residential landscape construction including grading, drainage, irrigation, utilities, concrete, pavers, masonry, retaining walls, planting, and finish work. Ability to read and interpret landscape, architectural, structural, civil, and engineering drawings. Strong understanding of construction sequencing and jobsite logistics. Experience coordinating subcontractors and vendors. Excellent organizational and scheduling skills. Ability to identify construction problems and develop practical solutions independently.
