Previous courier experience is preferred. Shift Monday through Friday 10AM to 6PM Summary/Objective: The Courier is responsible for the timely, courteous, and efficient transportation of laboratory specimens, mail, supplies, medications, and interoffice correspondence between Galen Medical Group locations, the Corporate Office, laboratories, and other designated sites. This position plays a critical role in supporting patient care by ensuring the secure and timely delivery of laboratory specimens, biologics, and medical supplies. Essential Functions: Travel to designated pickup and delivery locations using a company vehicle while following established routes and schedules. Perform special deliveries and pickups as directed. Ensure that all pick-ups and deliveries are completed on schedule due to critical components of handling lab specimens and blood. Obtain required signatures upon medication delivery. Ensures biologics are delivered to the Corporate Lab in a timely and efficient manner daily. Maintain accurate mileage and vehicle usage logs. Monitor company vehicle conditions, including fuel level (replenish as needed), fluid checks, and take vehicle for routine maintenance and service as needed. Adhere to all applicable safety, transportation, and regulatory requirements regarding specimen handling and transportation. Maintain a safe driving record and operate company vehicles in compliance with all federal, state, and local traffic laws and Galen Medical Group policies and procedures. Other Duties/Responsibilities: Make recommendations for any improvements in operation of the delivery system. Assist other personnel in the performance of their duties as assigned and as workload permits. Function as relief for other personnel in the office as appropriate and to facilitate co- workers’ absence in the office. Demonstrate responsible and cost-effective use of company supplies, equipment, and resources. Maintain strictest confidentiality of all company records, including verbal and written records. Other duties as assigned by the Lab Director. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Promote the mission, vision, and values of Galen Medical Group. Maintain confidentiality of all patients, medical, financial, and legal information. Report to work on time and as scheduled. Wear identification during work hours. Represent the organization in a positive & professional manner. Ability to handle difficult situations involving patients, physicians, or others in a professional manner. Ability to work independently, exercise creativity, be attentive to detail, and maintain a positive attitude. Comply with all organization policies and standards regarding ethical business practices. Participate in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities. Attend regular staff meetings and in-services as directed by your manager. Consistently demonstrate the value of team concept. Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities. Complete assignments efficiently and in a timely manner. Understands and abides by OSHA, HIPAA & CLIA standards.
