A place to learn and grow The Laboratory Assistant II in the Lab Specimen Receiving area is responsible for performing a variety of laboratory duties including receiving, processing and delivering laboratory specimens from inpatient units, outpatient clinics, and outside institutions. This is a fast-paced environment, working both as a team and independently. This area of the lab is the heart of each section – every sample comes through here to be triaged and the role of these lab assistants is to ensure that the best sample is delivered and processed for testing. Customer service and the ability to multi-task are really important skills for this area. It’s fast-paced and you’ll never be bored; if you are thinking of entering the lab as a career this is a good place to see a little bit of everything. This is a full-time, 40-hour per week, evening-shift position working Monday - Friday, 12:00pm-8:30pm. The evening-shift receives a 10% shift diffrential. This position requires weekends and holidays on rotation. We are also offering a sign-on/retention bonus for this position. *The bonus is available for external hires only and certain conditions apply. Responsibilities Performs quality and receiving functions related to checking patient demographic information, registration, ordering, adding, and canceling tests following all safety rules and regulations. Prints and scans orders into the Laboratory information system. Labels samples and delivers specimens to testing department, loads analyzers, centrifuges and performs specimen processing, restocks inventory, maintains the organized lab space. Performs routine maintenance on laboratory equipment as needed. Assists with training, corrects simple errors Conducts basic troubleshooting and orders special handles. Perform other duties as required or assigned. Qualifications Strong Computer skill sets Able to complete assignment with minimal direction and adapt to rapidly changing workflows Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, technicians, management, and subject matter experts. High school graduate, college classes preferred 1-2 years Lab or related experience Required Licensure/Certifications None Area of Interest: Allied Health Pay Range: $17.83/Hr. - $27.64/Hr.
