Jewelry Sales Associate

Position Overview: We are a locally owned, customer-focused jewelry store seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Jewelry Sales Associate to join our team. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about fine jewelry, has a strong understanding of birthstones, gemstone shapes, and jewelry craftsmanship, and thrives in a retail environment where exceptional customer service is the top priority. As a Jewelry Sales Associate, you will be the face of our store, guiding customers through meaningful purchases—from engagement rings to birthday gifts—while providing expert advice and a warm, personalized shopping experience. Key Responsibilities: Customer Engagement & Sales Greet customers promptly and warmly, creating a welcoming and inclusive environment. Build strong relationships with customers by actively listening to their needs and offering tailored recommendations. Educate customers on the meanings and significance of birthstones, gemstone cuts (e.g., round, princess, cushion, emerald), and metal types (e.g., gold, platinum, sterling silver). Assist customers in selecting jewelry for special occasions such as engagements, anniversaries, birthdays, and holidays. Operational Duties: Accurately process sales transactions using the POS system, including handling cash, credit, and gift card payments. Assist with inventory management, including receiving shipments, tagging merchandise, and conducting stock counts. Perform basic jewelry cleaning and inspections for customers. Follow all security protocols for handling high-value merchandise. Team Collaboration & Store Culture: Work collaboratively with team members. Contribute to a positive, respectful, and supportive work environment. Qualifications: 1+ years of retail sales experience, preferably in jewelry, fashion, or luxury goods. Strong knowledge of birthstones, gemstone shapes, and jewelry terminology. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-first mindset. High attention to detail and a passion for aesthetics and design. Ability to multitask and remain composed in a fast-paced retail setting. Comfortable using POS systems and basic computer applications. High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training in gemology or jewelry is a plus. Preferred Qualifications : Experience with custom jewelry design or repair services. Certification from GIA or other gemological institutions (a plus, not required).
