Italian Inventory Coordinator

Job Summary Il Porto Ristorante & Wood Fired Pizza is seeking an Italian Procurement Specialist to coordinate purchasing activities and ensure the consistent availability of high-quality ingredients, beverages, kitchen supplies, and restaurant equipment. This role focuses on supplier relationships, inventory planning, cost management, and timely ordering to support authentic Italian cuisine and efficient restaurant operations. Key Responsibilities Source and evaluate suppliers for fresh produce, meats, cheeses, pasta, olive oil, and other Italian food ingredients. Coordinate purchasing orders according to restaurant inventory levels and menu requirements. Communicate with suppliers to obtain pricing, product specifications, and delivery schedules. Negotiate prices and purchasing terms while maintaining quality standards. Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment to prevent shortages. Inspect incoming deliveries for quality, quantity, freshness, and accuracy. Maintain purchasing records, invoices, supplier information, and order documentation. Collaborate with chefs and kitchen managers to forecast ingredient requirements. Research specialty Italian ingredients and suitable alternative products when necessary. Track purchasing expenses and identify opportunities for cost savings. Build and maintain professional relationships with reliable suppliers. Address delivery delays, incorrect orders, and product quality concerns. Ensure purchasing practices comply with food safety and storage requirements. Prepare inventory and procurement reports for restaurant management. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant procurement or supply chain education preferred. Previous purchasing, procurement, inventory, or restaurant operations experience preferred. Knowledge of food products, supplier coordination, and ordering procedures. Strong negotiation, communication, and organizational skills. Basic proficiency in spreadsheets, inventory software, and purchasing systems. Ability to manage multiple orders and deadlines accurately. Strong attention to detail and cost awareness. Reliable attendance and a professional attitude. Preferred Skills Experience sourcing ingredients for Italian restaurants or similar food-service businesses. Familiarity with specialty cheeses, cured meats, olive oils, fresh pasta, and pizza ingredients. Supplier evaluation and contract negotiation skills. Inventory forecasting and cost-control knowledge. Ability to compare product quality, pricing, and delivery reliability. Effective collaboration with chefs, kitchen staff, and management. Strong problem-solving and recordkeeping abilities.
