Swift Outsourcing SolutionsJob Summary The Cycle Counter/Material Handler maintains accurate inventory records and supports the timely movement of materials throughout manufacturing operations. This position performs routine and requested inventory counts, investigates discrepancies, and handles materials needed for production, shipping, and receiving. Working with Planning, Purchasing, Production, and Shipping and Receiving, the Cycle Counter/Material Handler helps ensure that the right materials are available, properly identified, and recorded in the inventory system. Job Duties: Inventory Accuracy and Cycle Counting Perform scheduled and ad hoc cycle counts of raw materials, components, work in process, and finished goods. Compare physical counts with system balances; research discrepancies, document findings, and recommend corrections for approval. Investigate recurring inventory errors and work with other departments to address root causes. Verify part numbers, quantities, units of measure, and storage locations during counts and transactions. Maintain accurate count records and follow established procedures for inventory adjustments. Support physical inventories and inventory audits as needed. Material Handling and Production Support Receive, identify, label, put away, and move materials to designated locations. Pick, stage, and deliver components and supplies to production according to work orders and priorities. Replenish production areas and promptly communicate shortages, damaged materials, and incorrect parts. Record material receipts, transfers, returns, and other inventory movements accurately in the ERP or inventory system. Assist with preparing and staging finished goods or other materials for shipment when needed. Coordinate with production and warehouse teams to maintain clear locations and reliable material flow. Safety and Continuous Improvement Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely when trained and authorized. Follow company safety procedures, use required personal protective equipment, and report hazards promptly. Maintain clean, organized, and clearly labeled inventory and work areas. Identify opportunities to improve count accuracy, storage practices, and material movement. Qualifications: Required High school diploma or GED. Experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, material handling, or manufacturing. Ability to count accurately, reconcile differences, and maintain detailed records. Basic computer skills and ability to enter and retrieve inventory transactions. Ability to read part numbers, work orders, labels, and shipping or receiving documents. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and coordinate effectively with other departments. Preferred Experience with cycle counting and an ERP or inventory management system. Experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment. Forklift experience or certification. Familiarity with barcode scanners and standard warehouse practices. Physical Requirements Stand and walk for extended periods in a manufacturing and warehouse environment. Regularly bend, reach, stoop, and move materials; lift up to 40 pounds, with assistance or equipment for heavier items. Work around moving equipment, noise, and varying temperatures.
