International Logistics Specialist — Part-Time, Remote
ConfidentialAbout the Role We are an activated carbon trading company importing activated carbon into the United States primarily from countries across Asia. This role requires regular communication with freight forwarders to obtain quotations, coordinate bookings, confirm shipment requirements and deadlines, and resolve operational issues. You will also work with customs brokers to support clearance and coordinate shipments through final delivery. Key Responsibilities Freight Forwarder Sourcing and Evaluation — Primary Focus Research and identify freight forwarders serving different international routes to the United States. Evaluate providers based on route strengths, pricing, reliability, cargo acceptance, and service capabilities. Request and compare quotations, including ocean freight, inland transportation, customs clearance services, and additional charges. Build and maintain an organized database of freight forwarders, contacts, quotations, and service coverage. Develop backup options for key routes and recommend suitable providers for each shipment. Shipment Coordination and Communication Communicate directly with freight forwarders and customs brokers at each stage of a shipment. Coordinate bookings and confirm schedules, cutoff times, documentation requirements, and filing deadlines. Prepare, review, and submit shipping documents, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading. Coordinate U.S. import requirements, including ISF filings and customs clearance, with the responsible providers. Follow up on shipment status and help resolve documentation issues, delays, booking changes, and other operational problems. End-to-End Logistics Support Coordinate ocean freight, inland trucking, rail transportation when applicable, customs clearance, and final delivery. Track shipment milestones and maintain accurate records. Review logistics charges and identify opportunities to improve cost and service. Provide timely updates on shipment progress and issues requiring attention. Qualifications Hands-on experience in international logistics, freight forwarding, or import/export operations. Experience sourcing and evaluating freight forwarders across multiple international routes. Familiarity with U.S. import procedures and coordination with customs brokers. Understanding of Incoterms, ocean freight terminology, shipping documents, and key operational deadlines. Ability to manage shipments independently and communicate effectively with logistics providers. Strong organization, attention to detail, and proactive problem-solving skills. Professional English communication skills for emails and calls. Mandarin Chinese proficiency is a plus. Work Arrangement This is a remote, part-time position requiring approximately 20 hours per week. Some availability to coordinate with international partners across time zones is required.
