Summary of Position As a Supply Chain Planning Intern, you will work alongside experienced planners and operations leaders to support production scheduling, vendor management, inventory management, and supply chain analysis. This internship offers a unique opportunity to develop real-world skills while gaining exposure to the end-to-end supply chain process. High-performing interns will have the opportunity to be considered for full-time planning roles upon graduation. Supply Chain Planning Intern Responsibilities (including but not limited to) Analyze Material Requirements Planning (MRP) outputs to identify material shortages, excess inventory, and demand-driven supply requirements while supporting production schedules. Review planning recommendations and create manufacturing work orders to support customer demand, inventory targets, and production capacity requirements. Generate Outside Processing (OSP) purchase orders for subcontracted operations such as machining, plating, painting, coating, assembly, or other value-added services required to complete customer orders. Coordinate with OSP suppliers to manage order status, delivery commitments, capacity constraints, and expedite requests to ensure on-time completion of production requirements. Monitor supplier performance metrics, including delivery accuracy, lead time adherence, and responsiveness, and communicate risks or delays to the planning team. Collaborate with Program Management, Production, and Operations teams to support schedule adjustments resulting from changing customer priorities, material availability issues, or capacity constraints. Assist planners and schedulers in evaluating the impact of schedule changes on production plans, supplier commitments, and customer delivery dates. Partner with Logistics and Production teams to coordinate kitting activities, ensuring materials are available, organized, and staged to support manufacturing schedules. Track work orders and purchase orders through the production process, maintaining accurate ERP system data and providing status updates to internal stakeholders. Support inventory accuracy initiatives by researching discrepancies, validating transaction data, and assisting with cycle count investigations. Develop and maintain reports using Microsoft Excel and ERP system tools to track demand, supply, production status, supplier performance, and key supply chain metrics. Participate in cross-functional meetings with Planning, Procurement, Operations, Quality, Logistics, and Program Management teams to gain exposure to end-to-end supply chain processes. Identify opportunities for process improvements and assist in implementing solutions that improve planning efficiency, inventory management, supplier performance, and customer delivery results.
