Intermodal Trucking Dispatcher (Logistics & Fleet Operations)

Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and tech-driven Intermodal Trucking Dispatcher to manage daily fleet operations, driver assignments, and load coordination. In this role, you will serve as the primary link between drivers, terminal yards, and customers, ensuring efficient routing, maximum asset utilization, and strict safety compliance. Key Responsibilities Fleet Dispatch & Routing: Direct daily driver schedules, load tendering, pre-pulls, and container movements across local and regional terminals. Systems & Data Management: Utilize Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and Samsara ELD to monitor active loads, driver hours of service (HOS), and route progress in real time. Driver Communication: Maintain continuous contact with drivers to clear delays, verify container/trailer seal numbers, and troubleshoot operational issues. Compliance & Safety: Monitor driver logs, HOS exemptions, and ensure adherence to FMCSA safety regulations and terminal procedures. Cross-Functional Support: Coordinate closely with maintenance staff/shop managers regarding equipment availability and work orders. Qualifications & Requirements Experience: Minimum 2+ years of hands-on trucking or intermodal dispatch experience. Tech Proficiency: Strong computer skills with hands-on expertise in TMS platforms, ELD systems (Samsara preferred), and spreadsheet tools (Excel/Google Sheets). Industry Knowledge: Solid understanding of DOT/FMCSA hours-of-service rules, container terminal operations, and yard logistics. Problem-Solving Skills: Exceptional ability to multi-task, prioritize high-urgency loads, and make sound decisions under pressure. Communication: Clear, direct communication skills for driver management and customer updates.
