AMERICAN MARINE EXPRESSIntermodal Terminal Manager — Cincinnati, OH American Marine Express (AMX) Job Summary American Marine Express is seeking an experienced Intermodal Terminal Manager to lead our Cincinnati terminal. This role is responsible for daily drayage operations, dispatch and customer service staff, driver performance, safety, and terminal profitability. We’re looking for a hands-on leader who understands intermodal trucking, brings structure to daily operations, and holds people accountable while providing the support they need to succeed. The right candidate will be comfortable working directly with dispatchers, company drivers, owner-operators, and customers to solve problems and keep freight moving. Responsibilities Manage daily terminal operations, including dispatch, load planning, driver assignments, equipment availability, and customer service. Plan container pickups, deliveries, pre-pulls, and empty returns around customer appointments, rail deadlines, driver hours, and equipment availability. Lead, train, and develop dispatch and customer service staff. Set clear expectations and address performance issues promptly and professionally. Build strong relationships with company drivers and owner-operators, supporting recruitment, retention, and productive use of available capacity. Monitor shipments and resolve service issues before they result in missed appointments, rail storage, detention, or other avoidable costs. Maintain clear communication with customers regarding shipment status, delays, and operational concerns. Review terminal revenue, expenses, and profitability with company leadership. Identify opportunities to improve productivity, control costs, and grow the business. Ensure shipment information, work orders, delivery documents, and billable charges are accurately recorded in the transportation management system. Work with Safety and Fleet Management to address compliance, driver performance, equipment condition, and maintenance needs. Track operating performance, including on-time service, driver productivity, equipment utilization, and completion of required documentation. Establish consistent procedures and follow through on daily priorities, employee responsibilities, and customer commitments. Maintain a professional, approachable work environment where employees can ask questions, raise concerns, and receive constructive feedback. Qualifications Prior experience in intermodal drayage operations is required. Previous supervisory or management experience in trucking, dispatch, or terminal operations. Working knowledge of rail operations, container and chassis management, pre-pulls, empty returns, detention, and rail storage. Experience managing dispatchers, customer service staff, company drivers, and owner-operators. Ability to evaluate operating costs, understand terminal financial performance, and make sound business decisions. Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Ability to remain calm under pressure, handle difficult conversations professionally, and follow through on commitments. Experience using a transportation management system and Microsoft Office. PortPro experience is a plus. Working knowledge of DOT requirements and driver hours-of-service rules. Position Details Full-time, on-site position based at our Cincinnati, Ohio terminal.
