We are hiring CDL-A drivers for a local intermodal operation serving two rail yards in Harrisburg, PA. Drivers haul intermodal freight into and out of the yards with priority loading and unloading at Norfolk Southern facilities. This is a steady local position with strong activity based pay, daily home time, and both manual and automatic truck options. Pay and earnings $0.62 - $0.67 per mile Average weekly pay: $1,800 - $1,900 Annualized earnings: about $92,000 $88 per live stop $57 per drop and hook stop $45 per driver load or unload $25 driver assist pay $40 HazMat load pay $23 - $33 per hour detention pay after 1 hour $23 per hour yard check pay Benefits Medical, dental, and vision coverage 401(k) with company match Paid time off beginning on day one Schedule and home time Local intermodal routes Home daily Operates out of Harrisburg, PA No NYC deliveries Drivers leave the tractor at the yard during time off Slip seat equipment; drivers share trucks What you’ll do Haul intermodal freight into and out of two Harrisburg rail yards Work with priority loading and unloading at Norfolk Southern rail yards Complete an average of 2 - 5 loads per day Perform drop and hook, live stop, driver load/unload, and driver assist work as assigned Complete yard checks when needed Handle HazMat loads when required Complete pre trip inspections and follow all rail yard, DOT, and company safety procedures Maintain accurate logs and delivery documentation Equipment Intermodal freight Manual and automatic trucks available Slip seat equipment Tractors remain at the terminal during time off What we need Valid Class A CDL Minimum 3 - 6 months of trucking experience HazMat endorsement within 60 days of hire; not required at hiring Comfortable with rail yard operations and daily yard reporting Willing to operate slip seat equipment Able to leave the tractor at the yard during time off
