Position Summary

The Insurance Operations Specialist supports the oversight and day-to-day operations of underwriting programs written on carrier paper, working closely with MGUs and internal teams to ensure alignment with underwriting authority, regulatory requirements, contractual obligations, and reinsurance structures. Reporting to the Insurance Operations Manager, this role helps keep programs organized and running smoothly by supporting reporting, tracking underwriting activity and referrals, maintaining underwriting form inventories and program documentation, and assisting with audits and regulatory inquiries. The role also contributes to program performance monitoring and operational consistency by helping ensure processes are followed and data is accurate and complete. Partnering across underwriting, compliance, finance, claims, reinsurance, actuarial, and IT, this position offers strong exposure to all aspects of program operations while contributing to operational efficiency, strong governance, and profitable program growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assistin monitoring program underwriting and operational execution to ensure adherence to delegated authority, contractual obligations, regulatory requirements, and internal controls.
  • Maintain and organize key program documentation, including underwriting guidelines, policy forms, and GAA exhibits, ensuring materialsremaincurrent andaudit ready.
  • Support regulatory and compliance functions, including mapping state reporting requirements,assistingwith data calls, and responding to regulatory inquiries and audits.
  • Track underwritingactivity, including referrals, exceptions, and facultative placements, to support visibility, oversight, and governance.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with underwriting, claims, reinsurance, compliance, and program partners to support ongoing program operations.
  • Support the development and maintenance of program reporting, dashboards, and management tools, whileidentifyingoperational gaps and contributing to program performance analysis.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in insurance, finance, business, ora relatedfield, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Entry-level experience in insurance ora relatedfield, including internship experience.
  • Interestin developing knowledge of insurance operations, underwriting, and program management.
  • Professional designations such as CPCU, AU, or CIC are preferred.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficiencyin standard business software and tools, with the ability to quickly learn new systems.
  • Basic understanding of insurance concepts and interest in underwriting operations and delegated authority programs. 
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to managepriorities. 
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to review contracts, analyze data, and support reporting and operational monitoring
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams, including underwriting, claims, compliance, legal, reinsurance, and program partners.
