Infrastructure Operations Analyst

The Position:

The Infrastructure Operations Analyst plays a critical role in maintaining the health, performance, and security of the organization’s IT infrastructure. This role is responsible for the day‑to‑day operations of servers, storage, networking, and cloud systems, ensuring high availability, reliability, and scalability.

The analyst will collaborate closely with cross‑functional IT teams to support business continuity, incident response, and ongoing infrastructure optimization initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Infrastructure Monitoring & Maintenance

  • Monitor system performance and availability using enterprise monitoring tools
  • Perform daily health checks on servers, storage arrays, and network devices
  • Conduct routine maintenance, including patch management, firmware updates, and hardware diagnostics
  • Perform regular reviews of system capacity and performance
  • Analyze incidents and service requests to identify improvement and automation opportunities
  • Participate in an on‑call rotation as required

Incident & Problem Management

  • Respond to infrastructure‑related incidents and service requests within defined SLAs
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues across on‑premises and cloud environments
  • Escalate complex issues to senior engineers or vendors and follow through to resolution
  • Conduct post‑incident and post‑escalation reviews with a focus on SLAs, handoffs, MTTR, and continuous improvement

Systems Administration

  • Support Windows Server and/or Linux environments, including:
    • Active Directory and Azure Active Directory
    • DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy
  • Manage virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper‑V)
  • Assist with backup and disaster recovery solutions (e.g., Veeam, Commvault, Azure Backup)

Network & Security Support

  • Assist in configuring and maintaining switches, routers, firewalls, and VPNs
  • Monitor network traffic and security alerts
  • Support vulnerability remediation efforts
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to enforce security policies and respond to threats

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate documentation of infrastructure assets, configurations, and procedures
  • Support compliance with IT policies and regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR)
  • Participate in change management processes and maintain detailed change logs

Project Support & Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in infrastructure upgrade and migration initiatives (e.g., data center refreshes, cloud adoption)
  • Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement using scripting or orchestration tools
  • Provide input on capacity planning, performance tuning, and infrastructure lifecycle management


Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field

Required Skills & Experience

  • 2–4 years of experience in IT infrastructure operations or systems administration
  • Experience supporting Windows Server and/or Linux environments
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, VPNs)
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper‑V)
  • Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery solutions
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud)
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant industry certifications, such as:
    • CompTIA Network+, Server+, or Security+
    • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
    • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
    • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
  • Experience with scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, Python)
  • Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible)
  • Familiarity with ITIL frameworks and service management tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira)
