Industrial Painter / Material Handler – Day Shift We are currently seeking an accountable, proactive, and hardworking individual for a Industrial Painter / Material Handler position on our day shift, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday to Friday . This is a hands-on shop position involving a combination of material handling, general labour, steel preparation, and industrial painting. The successful candidate must be willing to learn, adapt, and assist with a wide variety of tasks throughout the plant as required. Day-to-Day Responsibilities Include, but Are Not Limited To: Preparing structural and miscellaneous steel for painting, including cleaning, grinding, sanding, and removing weld spatter, rust, oil, dirt, and other contaminants Applying industrial coatings and paint to fabricated steel Mixing and preparing paint and coatings as required Operating paint spraying equipment and maintaining painting tools and equipment Performing touch-ups and ensuring finished products meet acceptable quality standards Moving material throughout the plant using overhead cranes Unloading steel from trailers using overhead cranes Loading fabricated steel onto trailers using overhead cranes Loading and unloading steel from automated equipment Operating a forklift Sorting and organizing fabricated parts for assembly, painting, shipping, and installation Cutting workpieces using powered and non-powered equipment and tools Accurately reading and using a tape measure to assist in producing small steel parts according to drawing specifications Manual lifting and general material handling Maintaining a clean and organized work area Working collaboratively with other employees and departments Assisting with other general shop duties as required Requirements: Must be able to follow instructions and work safely Must have a valid driver’s licence Must have a reliable source of transportation Must be able to accurately read imperial and metric measurements Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs Must be comfortable working around steel fabrication equipment, overhead cranes, forklifts, and industrial machinery Previous industrial painting or spray painting experience is preferred Previous experience preparing steel surfaces for painting is preferred Two years of overhead crane experience is preferred Forklift experience is considered an asset Experience working in a structural steel or fabrication environment is considered an asset Wage & Benefits: Wage will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
