Duties Safely operate tractor-trailers on over-the-road (OTR) routes, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, or tankers, following all DOT (Department of Transportation) and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations. Load and unload freight with manual handling techniques, ensuring cargo is secured properly for transportation. Use GPS navigation systems to plan efficient routes and ensure timely deliveries across multiple destinations. Transport hazardous materials or dangerous goods when qualified, following hazardous materials regulations closely. Manage automobile transportation tasks when required, including securing vehicles for transport. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks and trailers to verify safety standards are met. Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo details, and delivery documentation in compliance with DOT regulations. Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route updates, delivery schedules, or any issues encountered on the road. Skills Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a valid Class A CDL license. Strong knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT rules, and hazardous materials regulations. Skilled in operating manual transmission trucks and tractor-trailers safely. Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and route planning tools for efficient deliveries. Experience handling logistics cargo including freight loading/unloading and securing loads on flatbeds or tankers. Ability to manage delivery driving tasks confidently while adhering to safety protocols. Excellent manual handling skills for load & unload operations involving freight or hazardous goods.
