Gene Ptacek & Son Fire EquipmentHigh-Pressure Tester / Warehouse Technician High-Pressure Tester / Warehouse Technician Gene Ptacek & Son Fire Equipment (GPS Fire) is looking for a dependable, safety-focused High-Pressure Tester / Warehouse Technician to join our team. This position is responsible for servicing portable fire extinguishers, performing hydrostatic and high-pressure cylinder testing, and supporting daily warehouse operations. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working with equipment and pressurized cylinders. What You'll Do Inspect, service, recharge, repair, and maintain portable fire extinguishers. Perform hydrostatic and high-pressure testing of fire extinguishers and cylinders. Inspect cylinders for damage, corrosion, leaks, and other safety concerns. Remove unsafe or failed cylinders from service. Maintain accurate service and testing records. Safely operate and maintain testing equipment. Receive, organize, stage, load, and unload equipment and materials. Maintain inventory and keep the warehouse clean and organized. Safely handle extinguishing agents, pressurized cylinders, and hazardous materials. Follow company safety procedures, manufacturer requirements, Hazmat procedures, and applicable industry standards. Use all required personal protective equipment (PPE). Report safety concerns, damaged equipment, and other issues to management. Perform other warehouse and service duties as assigned. Qualifications Current Hazmat certification/training required. Demonstrated competency in the safe handling and testing of high-pressure cylinders required. Previous fire extinguisher, hydrostatic testing, fire protection, or mechanical experience preferred. Mechanical aptitude and ability to safely use hand and power tools. Ability to follow written procedures and technical instructions. Strong attention to detail and accurate recordkeeping skills. Ability to safely lift, carry, and move fire extinguishers, cylinders, and equipment. Ability to stand and work for up to 8 hours at a time and frequently bend, kneel, stoop, reach, push, and pull. Ability to work safely around pressurized cylinders, chemicals, machinery, noise, dust, and varying temperatures. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Valid driver's license may be required depending on assigned duties. Regular and reliable attendance and punctuality are required. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Preferred Experience Portable fire extinguisher service Hydrostatic or high-pressure cylinder testing Hazmat/material handling Fire protection industry experience Warehouse or inventory experience Mechanical troubleshooting Work Environment This position is primarily based in a warehouse/service shop environment. The employee may work around pressurized cylinders, compressed gases, extinguishing agents, chemicals, machinery, noise, dust, and varying temperatures. Safety is a top priority.
