Greater Edmonton Taxi ServiceHealth, Safety & Claims Manager – Transportation Operations Edmonton, Alberta | Full-Time | In Person tappCONNECT is seeking an experienced transportation safety professional to lead our Health & Safety, Claims, and Driver Safety functions. Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, the Manager leads a small operational team consisting of a Claims employee and a Road Supervisor . This is primarily a manager-of-function-and-people role , but it is intentionally hands-on. The Manager must understand the work performed by both direct reports and be prepared to provide operational coverage during vacations, absences, and other periods when support is required . Transportation Safety Leadership The Claims employee receives and processes collision files, gathers and documents supporting information and develops the claim/investigation record. The Road Supervisor conducts road tests and competency assessments for new and existing drivers and produces detailed telematics reporting on driver behavior and performance. The Manager: Reviews collision, claims, road-assessment and telematics information Identifies driver and fleet-safety trends Establishes corrective-action and training priorities Coaches and directs the Claims employee and Road Supervisor Works with Operations to address driver-performance concerns Uses collision and telematics information to reduce preventable incidents Identifies systemic driver-safety issues Maintains sufficient working proficiency in claims processing, collision documentation, road testing and telematics review to provide coverage when either direct report is unavailable Health & Safety / COR The Manager has direct ownership of the organization's H&S/COR management system and is responsible for: Maintaining and continuously improving COR Alberta OHS compliance Incident investigation oversight and root-cause analysis Corrective and preventive action Safety policies, procedures and programs Hazard assessments and inspections Training direction and safety initiatives Safety KPIs and management reporting Compiling and analyzing information received from operating departments Completing hands-on H&S administrative and reporting functions as required Qualifications The ideal candidate will have: 5+ years of progressive health and safety experience Transportation, trucking, transit, fleet or commercial-vehicle experience preferred Previous supervisory or leadership experience Experience with COR Knowledge of Alberta OHS requirements Experience with collision and incident investigation Understanding of WCB and claims processes Strong analytical, coaching and communication skills Ability to interpret claims, telematics and driver-performance information Willingness and ability to provide hands-on operational coverage for team members when required Valid Alberta driver's license Knowledge of Alberta National Safety Code requirements, commercial fleet safety, preventable-collision analysis, driver assessment, remedial training, telematics, vehicle-camera systems and fatigue/distracted-driving prevention would be valuable. CTSC, CTSP, CRSP, CRST, CHSC, NCSO or COR Auditor credentials are considered assets. Why tappCONNECT?
