Grain Elevator Labourer Ansems Grain Elevators Ltd. Location: 410 North Aldershot Road, Steam Mill, Nova Scotia Job Type: Full-time Hourly Rate: Negotiable based on experience and availability Schedule: Monday to Friday, with overtime, extended hours and occasional weekends as required. About Us Ansems Grain Elevators Ltd. is a locally owned and operated agricultural business located in Steam Mill, Nova Scotia. We take pride in supporting local farmers and providing reliable grain handling and storage services throughout the region. We are currently seeking a reliable, hardworking and safety-conscious Grain Elevator Labourer to join our team. The successful candidate will assist with daily grain elevator operations, including loading and unloading grain, maintaining equipment and keeping the facility clean and organized. This is a physically demanding, hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys working outdoors and being part of a team. Key Responsibilities Assist with loading and unloading grain trucks and trailers. Support daily grain receiving, handling, storage and shipping operations. Operate grain handling equipment and machinery with appropriate training. Perform general labour duties, including shovelling, sweeping and cleaning grain handling areas. Climb ladders, stairs and elevated structures as required, following all applicable safety procedures. Monitor grain movement and assist with ensuring safe and efficient operations. Maintain cleanliness of work areas, grain handling equipment and facilities. Assist with routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance. Follow all workplace health and safety procedures. Report equipment concerns, safety hazards or operational issues promptly. Assist with other duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous agricultural, grain handling or general labour experience is considered an asset but is not required. Training will be provided. Physically capable of performing demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, climbing and shovelling. Comfortable working at heights while using required safety equipment. Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and dusty environments. Ability to follow instructions and work safely around machinery and moving equipment. Reliable, punctual and hardworking. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety. Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
