Global Commodity Manager with Supply Chain San Francisco Bay Area, CA & Austin, TX Hybrid Contract Role Summary We are seeking a Senior Global Commodity Manager / Commodity & Supply Chain Consultant with strong experience in commodity management, strategic sourcing, supplier management, and supply-chain planning, along with working knowledge of AI, predictive analytics, and AI-enabled decision support . This is not a Category Manager role. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience developing commodity strategies, analyzing market and supplier conditions, securing supply and capacity, managing commercial negotiations, and mitigating supply-chain risks across critical and schedule-sensitive commodities. You will lead cross-functional teams through supplier selection, qualification, commercial execution, and supplier-performance management. You will also leverage data, analytics, and AI techniques to improve forecasting, supplier-risk sensing, cost analysis, and sourcing decisions. Key Responsibilities Commodity Strategy & Market Intelligence Develop and execute global commodity strategies across critical commodities and long-lead equipment. Monitor market pricing, capacity, allocation, lead times, supply constraints, and industry trends. Manage commodities such as copper, aluminum, steel, transformers, switchgear, generators, cooling equipment, semiconductors, and technology hardware . Develop should-cost models, cost-driver analyses, supplier economics, and buy-versus-hedge scenarios . Analyze supplier quotations, purchase-order history, market intelligence, and transaction data to develop defensible sourcing recommendations. Identify opportunities to improve cost, availability, capacity, quality, and supply continuity. Translate market and supplier signals into actionable recommendations around sourcing, qualification, capacity reservation, hedging, escalation, and commercial commitments. AI, Analytics & Decision Support Apply AI, predictive analytics, and machine-learning concepts to commodity and supply-chain decision-making. Support demand forecasting, price forecasting, lead-time analysis, supplier-risk sensing, anomaly detection, and early-warning indicators. Develop data-driven models that identify potential supply disruptions and commercial risks before they impact critical schedules. Design and implement AI-supported sourcing and supply-chain decision workflows . Ensure AI-driven recommendations include transparent assumptions, source traceability, confidence levels, and appropriate human review. Use SQL, Python, Excel, and enterprise supply-chain/procurement platforms to analyze and communicate complex data. Identify opportunities to automate commodity intelligence, supplier monitoring, reporting, and decision-support processes. Supplier Assurance & Commercial Execution Assess supplier capability, production capacity, allocation position, quality, financial/commercial considerations, and delivery performance. Lead or support supplier qualification and competitive sourcing activities. Develop supplier evaluation criteria, scorecards, and performance-management frameworks. Support commercial negotiations and secure competitive pricing, capacity commitments, lead-time commitments, and supply agreements. Work with suppliers to secure critical capacity ahead of schedule requirements. Support factory acceptance, supplier readiness, delivery adherence, and issue escalation.
