Gift Shop Manager

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Gift Shop Manager to lead La Boutique, Vermilionville's retail gift shop operations with energy and passion. In this pivotal role, you will oversee daily store activities, manage a dedicated sales team, and ensure an exceptional customer experience. The gift shop manager is responsible for working with the venders, consignment craft person and admission to the Vermilionville Living History and Folklife Museum and Park; to develop an inventory of products and crafts items representative of Vermilionville's mission and culture of Acadiana. The development and marketing of Vermilionville products, as well as their display and presentation, is the responsibility of the gift shop manager in close collaboration with the marketing team. This position requires an understanding of fiscal management, budget preparation, purchasing, human resources management, computer skills, and an appreciation of appropriate display techniques for retail sales operations within the context of a historical setting. Responsibilities Lead and supervise the retail gift shop team, providing training, coaching, and performance feedback to ensure high standards of customer service and sales performance Manage daily store operations including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, POS system management, and shift scheduling Oversee inventory management, including stock replenishment, purchasing, merchandising, and inventory control to maximize sales opportunities Develop and implement effective sales strategies to meet or exceed revenue targets while maintaining optimal product pricing and presentation Conduct employee orientation, interviewing, recruiting efforts, and ongoing training to build a motivated and knowledgeable team Maintain accurate bookkeeping records related to sales, budgeting, and operational expenses Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, store policies, and operational procedures while fostering a positive team environment Responsible for greeting all guest making sure they are headed in the right direction Manage museum admissions, payment processing, and guest orientation to the Vermilionville village Experience Proven management experience in retail store operations or gift shop environments with supervisory responsibilities Strong background in retail sales management including POS systems operation, cashiering, and customer service excellence Demonstrated skills in inventory management, purchasing, merchandising, and stock control Experience in recruiting, training & development of staff, as well as conducting interviews for new hires Understanding of retail math including budgeting, pricing strategies, sales analysis, and financial reporting Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead teams effectively across shifts; bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus Familiarity with Acadiana crafts and sources of Acadiana merchandise is advantageous Prior experience with operational management tasks such as payroll processing, bookkeeping, cash handling & cashiering is preferred Join us as we create engaging shopping environments that delight visitors while driving business success!
