ABOUT ISEMBARD Isembard is building a network of high-performance factories for critical industries. We combine advanced machine tools, robotics and our own software, MasonOS, to make precision components for aerospace, defense, energy and frontier technology companies, with factories across the US, UK, Germany and France. Our mission is to forge industrial acceleration. THE ROLE We're opening Isembard's first factory in California, and the General Manager launches it. You'll choose the site, hire the team, win the first customers and run the factory day to day, with the backing of our factories in Dallas, London, Hamburg and Paris. You'll own the site's revenue, delivery, quality and security, and bring it onto MasonOS, the software that runs every Isembard factory. WHAT YOU'LL DO Find, qualify and secure the site: power, space, layout and the machines that go in it. Hire and lead the first team of machinists, CAM programmers, quality and operations people. Build relationships with aerospace, defense and industrial customers, and turn them into long-term demand for machined parts. Find and bring on franchise partners across the region. Run the factory to strict quality and security standards, and keep it running. Deploy MasonOS, and tell us how it should work on the shop floor. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Experience leading an operationally intensive business, site or function. Strong operational and logistical judgment, and comfort building from nothing. Credibility with engineers and customers, and a real understanding of how things get made. High integrity and a mission-driven mindset. NICE TO HAVE Manufacturing, aerospace or defense experience. A network across California's industrial and defense base. Experience opening a new site or launching a business. An engineering degree.
