Garbage Truck Driver

Position Summary Collects refuse and recyclables by driving collection vehicles on a designated route; hauling, lifting, and loading items; operating compactors and loaders; maintaining safe and healthy operations, and equipment. Responsibilities Organizes daily service by reviewing collection route and special instructions; inspecting and testing vehicles and equipment; completing vehicle preparation, such as: checking oil, fuel, water, tire pressure, etc.; obtaining required repairs. Collects refuse and recyclables by driving collection vehicles on designated routes; retrieving, hauling, lifting, and loading items; operating compactors and loading equipment; rejecting unacceptable items; instructing customers on proper containers and items for collection, placement of containers, and packaging procedures. Disposes of refuse and recyclables by driving to transfer station; dumping load; driving recyclables to collection station. Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; performing operator preventive maintenance; submitting work orders for repairs. Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following state and local driving rules, organization standards, and legal regulations; cleaning-up spills. Documents loads by maintaining logs. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities. Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Requirements Ability to get in and out of the truck repeatedly throughout the workday Valid Class B CDL Two years of recent experience in a CMV (Commercial Motor Vehicle) with a GVWR of over 26,001 pounds Experience with hydraulic systems Pay: From $33.15 per hour Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week Benefits: 401(k) matching Dental insurance Health insurance Paid training Vision insurance Application Question(s): Do you possess a valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)?
