Full Time Driver/Dispatcher - Overnight

Position Title: Driver/Dispatcher Department: Operations / Dispatch Employment Type: Full-Time Reports To: Dispatch Manager / Operations Manager Work Location: Richmond, VA Pay Rate: $18.00 - 22.00 per hour Position Summary Richmond Express is seeking a dependable, organized, and customer-focused Driver/Dispatcher to support daily courier operations. This dual-role position is responsible for completing scheduled and on-demand deliveries while also assisting with dispatch operations, driver coordination, order entry, and customer communication. The ideal candidate must be comfortable transitioning between driving responsibilities and dispatch duties as operational needs require. This position requires strong multitasking abilities, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Driving Responsibilities Complete scheduled routes and ondemand deliveries in a timely and professional manner. Safely operate company vehicles while following all traffic laws and company safety policies. Ensure proper handling, transportation, and delivery of customer materials. Maintain accurate delivery records, signatures, timestamps, and proof of delivery. Communicate delivery delays, route changes, and customer concerns to dispatch. Maintain vehicle cleanliness and report maintenance or safety concerns. Represent Richmond Express professionally while interacting with clients and customers. Dispatch Responsibilities Receive, enter, and process customer orders accurately. Assign and coordinate deliveries with drivers based on service requirements and delivery priorities. Monitor active routes and track deliveries to ensure established service levels are met. Communicate with drivers regarding assignments, changes, delays, and delivery instructions. Provide professional and timely customer service through phone calls and email. Assist with resolving delivery issues and escalating operational concerns when necessary. Maintain accurate order information and operational records. Support daily dispatch operations and assist with coverage as needed. Qualifications and Requirements Valid driver's license with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record. Ability to pass required background checks and drug screening. Previous driving, courier, customer service, or dispatch experience preferred. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments in a fastpaced environment. Basic computer skills and ability to learn dispatch and ordertracking software. Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment. Dependable attendance, punctuality, and professional conduct. Ability to adapt to changing operational demands and schedules. Physical Requirements Ability to sit and drive for extended periods. Ability to enter and exit company vehicles frequently. Ability to lift and carry packages or materials as required by assigned routes. Ability to perform both officebased dispatch duties and fieldbased delivery responsibilities.
