At Zava Ranch, we grow food with respect for the land. Our family ranch practices "beyond organic" farming which is sustainable, ethical, natural and veganic —without sprays, fertilizers, herbicides, or animal inputs. We grow lemons, avocados, other subtropical fruit, as well as herbs, and ship fresh produce nationwide, directly to customers who care about how their food is grown. We are looking for a detail-oriented, dependable person to help bring that care into every customer order. This is a varied role that combines time in the orchard with packing, computer work, and food safety. You’ll learn our produce, use ecommerce and shipping software, and make practical decisions about harvesting, quality, and how to prepare each shipment. Your work will connect what we grow with the people who choose to buy from our farm. Time Commitment: We are currently looking for approximately 20 hours a week, with a possibility of more hours in the future. Hours are Sunday 12pm-5pm, Monday 7am-3:30pm, Tuesday 3pm-5pm, Wednesday 7am-1pm. What you’ll do - Harvest fruit and herbs, learning how to recognize readiness and handle each crop. - Inspect produce and select items suitable for shipment. - Weigh and pack orders, making thoughtful choices about protection and arrangement. - Use order-management and shipping software to process shipments and print labels. - Follow food safety procedures and complete required records. - Check order accuracy, identify problems, and communicate clearly. - Keep the packing area, tools, and supplies clean and organized. - Participate in conservation, research, and land stewardship activities. Who we’re looking for Someone who cares about food and the environment, enjoys learning, and takes ownership of their work. You should be as comfortable using computers as you are harvesting fruit, attentive to detail, and able to follow procedures while exercising good judgment. The work is active and includes outdoor harvesting, standing, bending, and carrying produces. Experience in farming, food handling, shipping, or e-commerce is helpful but not required. We will train the right person. What you’ll gain Practical experience in natural farming, fresh produce, food safety, and running an online farm business. You’ll work closely with the owners, see how your decisions affect the finished order, and contribute to a farm built around care for its land and customers.
