Freight Dispatcher

Hartwell Freight moves goods by road for businesses that rely on deliveries arriving as agreed. We handle full loads, part loads, pallets and regular runs. We are looking for a freight dispatcher in Abbeville, Alabama to coordinate our scheduled runs and keep each one on plan from collection to delivery. What you'll do: - Plan and schedule regular runs, matching drivers and vehicles to each route and time window. - Confirm booking details with customers before collection, including what the goods are, how they are packed, where they are going and when they need to arrive. - Keep in touch with drivers during the day, track progress and respond to delays or changes. - Keep customers informed of their delivery status until the goods arrive. - Keep accurate dispatch records, delivery confirmations and run schedules. - Work with the wider team to fit multi-drop, part load and urgent jobs around the scheduled runs. What we're looking for: - Experience in dispatch, transport planning or logistics coordination, or a strong interest in learning the work. - Good organisation and the ability to manage several runs and priorities at once. - Clear, calm communication by phone and in writing with drivers and customers. - Confidence using a computer, email and scheduling or tracking tools. - Attention to detail and a practical approach to solving problems when plans change. - Knowledge of local and regional routes is helpful.
