Freight Agent — CTS Brokers Position Type: Commission-Based Location: Remote Company: CTS Brokers Position Summary CTS Brokers is seeking a motivated Freight Agent to develop shipper relationships, secure freight opportunities, coordinate transportation, and manage loads from pickup through delivery. The ideal candidate is sales-driven, organized, professional, and able to build lasting relationships with shippers and carriers and preferably 6 months to a year experience. Key Responsibilities Prospect and solicit shippers, manufacturers, and distributors. Build and maintain a profitable customer portfolio. Obtain shipment details and prepare competitive freight quotes. Negotiate rates with customers and qualified carriers. Post loads and source appropriate carrier capacity. Verify carrier qualifications before booking. Prepare and distribute rate confirmations. Track shipments from pickup through delivery. Provide customers with timely status updates. Resolve delays, service failures, and documentation issues. Collect bills of lading, proof-of-delivery documents, and load paperwork. Maintain accurate customer, carrier, load, and communication records. Follow all CTS Brokers policies and applicable transportation regulations. Protect confidential information and CTS Brokers’ customer and carrier relationships. Qualifications Freight brokerage, logistics, transportation, or sales experience preferred. Strong sales, negotiation, communication, and customer-service skills. Knowledge of freight rates, equipment types, and transportation terminology. Ability to work independently and manage multiple shipments. Comfortable making cold calls and developing new business. Experience using load boards, CRM platforms, email, and transportation-management systems preferred Preferably 6 months-1 year Reliable computer, internet connection, and telephone access. Compensation This is a commission-based position. Commission is calculated from the gross profit earned on eligible loads, not the total freight revenue. The specific percentage, payment schedule, eligibility requirements, and customer-ownership terms will be stated in the written Freight Agent Agreement. Performance Expectations Freight Agents are expected to: Consistently pursue new shipper accounts. Maintain professional communication with customers and carriers. Protect CTS Brokers’ profit margins and reputation. Meet established sales, load-volume, and service goals. Provide accurate and timely shipment documentation.
