Forklift Mechanic

Forklift MechanicPosition Overview We are looking for an experienced, highly skilled Forklift Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of hands-on experience working primarily on forklifts of all makes, models, and types and be capable of independently diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining equipment. This is a hands-on position for someone who knows forklifts inside and out and can troubleshoot problems, determine the root cause, and complete repairs correctly and efficiently. Key Responsibilities Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain forklifts of various makes, models, and capacities. Perform complete engine repairs and rebuilds , including gasoline, diesel, LPG/propane, and other applicable power systems. Diagnose and repair transmissions, differentials, drive systems, and axles . Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems, including pumps, cylinders, hoses, valves, and hydraulic leaks. Troubleshoot and repair electrical and electronic systems. Use diagnostic equipment, service software, electrical schematics, and manufacturer's service information to identify problems. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) and inspections. Perform brake, steering, suspension, wheel, and tire repairs. Repair and maintain cooling, fuel, exhaust, and charging systems. Troubleshoot starting and charging problems. Diagnose and repair warning lights, sensors, controllers, and other electronic components. Inspect forklifts for safety and mechanical condition. Identify worn or damaged components and determine when replacement is necessary. Complete repairs in a safe, professional, and timely manner. Maintain accurate service and repair records. Communicate equipment problems and repair recommendations to management. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Follow all company safety procedures and applicable OSHA requirements. Perform other forklift-related mechanical and maintenance duties as needed. Qualifications Minimum 10 years of professional forklift mechanic experience preferred. Extensive hands-on experience repairing multiple makes and types of forklifts . Strong mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and diagnostic skills. Ability to independently diagnose problems and determine the proper repair. Experience with both older mechanical forklifts and newer electronically controlled equipment. Ability to read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics. Ability to use diagnostic tools and testing equipment. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Valid driver's license. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Must have your own basic mechanic hand tools. Preferred Experience Experience with a variety of forklift manufacturers and equipment, including but not limited to: Toyota Hyster Yale Crown Mitsubishi Caterpillar Komatsu Doosan Clark Raymond Nissan Jungheinrich Other warehouse and material-handling equipment Experience with LP, diesel, gasoline, electric, and reach/warehouse forklifts is highly desirable. What We're Looking For We are looking for a true forklift mechanic , not someone who occasionally works on forklifts as part of a general mechanic position. The right person should be able to look at a forklift that isn't running properly, diagnose the problem, explain what is wrong, and make the repair. The forklift shop and work areas are not climate controlled . The work environment can be dusty and dirty due to the nature of the industrial operation.
