As we continue to grow, we're looking for an experienced Fleet & Shop Manager to take full ownership of our fleet, shop, and warehouse operations. About the Role You'll run the operation that keeps our crews moving: a fleet of 30–40 trucks plus concrete and excavation equipment, a shop, and a warehouse. You'll lead a small team, including a skilled mechanic and a warehouse/facilities coordinator. Your job is to make them effective by setting priorities, removing obstacles, and keeping each person focused on what they do best. You'll report directly to the VP of Operations. What You'll Own Fleet and equipment management. You'll run preventive maintenance, uptime, repair priorities, and replace-vs.-repair decisions for trucks, heavy equipment, and specialty concrete equipment. Shop leadership. You'll set the daily work queue, schedule repairs around project needs, and make sure the mechanic spends his time turning wrenches. Warehouse and inventory. You'll oversee procurement, inventory control, organization, and staging of materials, tools, and equipment for upcoming projects. Cost control. You'll track and manage fleet, tool, and equipment spending, reduce downtime, waste, and loss, and report on costs regularly. Vendors. You'll manage parts suppliers, service vendors, rental companies, and outside repair shops. Compliance. You'll keep registrations, DOT requirements, inspections, insurance, and fleet records current. Coordination. You'll work with superintendents and operations to anticipate equipment and material needs before they become emergencies. Facilities. You'll make sure the shop, yard, and warehouse are safe, clean, and well organized. What We're Looking For 3+ years managing a fleet, shop, or equipment operation, ideally in construction. Strong mechanical knowledge of trucks, heavy equipment, and small engines. You don't have to be the primary mechanic, but you need to know the work. A proven ability to lead and coordinate a small team calmly and clearly. Skill at building and running systems, including maintenance schedules, inventory tracking, and work orders. Comfort with budgets, cost tracking, and fleet management software (or the ability to implement it). Working knowledge of DOT compliance. A valid driver's license. A CDL is a plus. Forklift proficiency and the ability to lift 50+ lbs. Job Details Full-time, in person, Chattanooga, TN Day shift, Monday–Friday, with overtime as needed Pay: Negotiable based on experience.
