ROLE SUMMARY The Fleet Manager will oversee all aspects of fleet maintenance while establishing and maintaining a department culture focused on people, safety, service, and cost through meaningful engagements with team members, best in-class service to customers, and safe and reliable fleet operations. Responsible for the strategic leadership, administration, maintenance, compliance, safety, budgeting, procurement, lifecycle management and operational readiness of all company fleet assets including box trucks, pickups, passenger vehicles, trailers and forklifts. ESSENTIAL DUTIES General Responsibilities Drive safety initiatives and standards that cultivate accountability and prevent incidents. Perform and administer fleet policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Manage preventive maintenance and repair programs. Oversee CHP BIT, DMV, DOT, FMCSA, OSHA and Cal/OSHA compliance. Manage vehicle registrations, insurance, permits and licensing. Lead accident investigations and implement corrective actions. Manage telematics, GPS and fuel utilization programs. Develop fleet replacement strategies and capital plans. Direct vendor sourcing, budgeting, and contract administration. Administer vehicle assignment and utilization programs. Manage fleet performance metrics such as vehicle uptime, fleet cost per mile, vehicle utilizations, fuel efficiency, accident frequency, audit results, budget performance, and compliance to maintenance schedule. Maintain fleet KPI dashboards and reporting, including weekly status of Fleet Performance. California Compliance Responsibilities Coordinate and maintain compliance with CHP BIT requirements where applicable. Maintain 90-day inspection schedules and records for covered vehicles, if applicable. Administer DMV Employer Pull Notice monitoring. Support driver qualification, licensing and MVR review processes. Monitor CARB emissions and Environmental Requirements. Maintain audit-ready records and support agency inspections. Federal Compliance Responsibilities Support FMCSA compliance programs. Maintain vehicle inspection, repair and maintenance documentation. Support DOT audit readiness. Maintain Driver Qualification Files. Monitor regulatory changes affecting fleet operations. Fleet Maintenance Program Create Preventative Maintenance (PM) schedules by mileage, hours or calendar intervals. Track repairs, warranty work, recalls and campaigns. Review repair estimates and obtain approval for work. Analyze downtime and maintenance trends. Remove unsafe vehicles from service immediately. Forklift Fleet Management Manage inspection, maintenance and replacement of forklifts. Conduct forklift training and maintain operator authorization records. Ensure training and evaluations are current. Administer battery charging and fueling safety practices. Maintain equipment service history. Leadership and Management Establish goals and annual objectives related to areas of responsibility. Supervise fleet staff and vendors. Develop training plans in conjunction with GMBI Safety Officer.
