Sumter County Sheriff's OfficeLocation: Bushnell, FL CLASSIFICATION: CIVILIAN BUREAU: ADMINISTRATION DIVISION: FLEET MAINTENANCE SUPERVISES: NONE SUPERVISED BY: ADMINISTRATIVE LIEUTENANT BRIEF DESCRIPTION: The Fleet Specialist is a civilian position responsible for assisting the Fleet Technicians with the Office’s fleet operations. This position aids in planning, coordinating, and delivering fleet services, providing safe, reliable and economically sound transportation and related support services, while striving to maintain vehicle value and equipment investment. This position coordinates agency vehicle maintenance with personnel and outside vehicle repair facilities, assists with the development of the fleet budget, creates purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and processes invoices for payment. DUTIES: A. Maintain control of and follow up on incoming correspondence, reports, and other documents. B. Prepare vehicles for auction. C. Log new vehicles and update automated inventory program entries as required. D. Schedule vehicle maintenance appointments. E. Identify repairs requiring an outside contractor after consulting with the lead technician. F. Coordinate vehicle inspections (vehicles turned in, reassigned and spares). G. Organize maintenance/repair of Office vehicles. H. Transport or schedule vehicles. I. Receive, route, and disperse telephone calls/messages. J. Generate, update, and submit statistical reports. K. File and retrieve documentation/reports and files. L. Maintain and update maintenance and other pertinent files. M. Demonstrate interpersonal skills. N. Demonstrate verbal and written communication skills. O. Demonstrate computer/software/office equipment skills/knowledge. Proficiency in Word, Excel, and other computer programs utilized by the Office. P. Possess information systems entry/retrieval skills. Q. Possess time management skills. R. Review all inventory and make recommendations on replacements as needed. S. Assign and schedule maintenance and repair work on all Office radios and radio equipment. T. Perform any additional duties that may be required by the Sheriff or through necessity of situations. U. Renew vehicle registration as necessary. JOB PREREQUISITES: High School Diploma or GED. Clerical experience/inventory control is preferred. Knowledge of the automotive industry and auto mechanics. Valid FL Driver’s License Ability to type and to prioritize work.
