Fine Art Driver & Crate Builder Location: Scarborough, Maine Job Type: Full-Time, Monday–Friday Pay: $28-$30 dollars per hour (DOE) Travel: Approximately 50% of work is local; 50% involves overnight travel (typically 7-10 business days/month) About the role Sure Express is a family-owned custom crating, packaging, and freight company based in Scarborough, Maine. We build custom shipping crates and handle high-value freight for galleries, auction houses, private collectors, antique dealers, and select industrial customers across New England and the East Coast. We're looking for a hands-on builder/driver who can construct crates in our shop and also travel to client sites for pickup, packing, and delivery. What you'll do Build custom wood crates using table saws, panel saws, and standard power tools Pack and crate artwork, antiques, and high-end furniture using industry-standard techniques and materials Drive a 26-ft box truck for pickups and deliveries, both local and overnight Handle, move, and install artwork and furniture with care and discretion Load and organize truck cargo for safe transit Complete condition reports on inbound and outbound pieces Conduct vehicle inspections and maintain DOT compliance Work alongside experienced team members on pack-out and installation jobs What you bring High school diploma 1-2 years of experience in fine art handling, specialty moving, or skilled woodworking/crating Knowledge of standard packing, crating, and installation techniques Strong communication skills with clients and coworkers Discretion when working in client homes, galleries, and storage facilities Ability to lift 75+ lbs; bend, kneel, stand, and work on your feet throughout the day Valid driver's license, clean driving record (will undergo MVR check) Ability to safely operate a 26-ft box truck (DOT medical card a plus, not required) CDL is preferred but not required What we offer $28-$30 dollars per hour DOE Paid hotel and per diem on overnight travel Health insurance Paid time off (10 days + holidays) Monday–Friday schedule (no weekends in normal operations) On-the-job training in MIL-spec packaging, ISPM-15 export crating, and specialty handling Family-owned business — direct access to ownership, no corporate layers Ready to apply?
