Facility Maintenance Worker
ConfidentialOverview The Facility Maintenance Worker supports the Maskekosihk Recovery Community by ensuring the facility, grounds, equipment, and infrastructure remain safe, functional, and well-maintained. This role contributes to a healing, culturally grounded environment by performing repairs, preventative maintenance, inspections, and general upkeep across the 75-bed recovery community and 5-bed detox unit. The Maintenance Worker collaborates with the Operations Manager, clinical staff, Elders, and support teams to ensure the physical environment supports participant wellness, cultural programming, and daily operations. This position requires professionalism, confidentiality, and trauma-informed interaction with participants and staff. Summary of Roles and Responsibilities · Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections on facility systems including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, lighting, and safety equipment. · Conduct preventative maintenance to reduce downtime and ensure safe operation of building systems. · Maintain interior and exterior areas including common spaces, offices, participant rooms, detox unit, kitchen, and cultural spaces, etc. · Complete minor carpentry, painting, patching, and general repair tasks as needed. · Support groundskeeping including snow removal, lawn care, walkway clearing, and seasonal outdoor maintenance. · Respond promptly to maintenance requests, work orders, and urgent repair needs. · Ensure all maintenance activities follow safety standards, building codes, and organizational policies. · Assist with setup and takedown for cultural events, ceremonies, feasts, and community gatherings. · Maintain tools, equipment, and supplies in safe working condition; report issues requiring external contractors. · Support facility inspections, safety audits, and compliance with MHSPA licensing and health/safety regulations. · Collaborate with Operations Manager to coordinate vendor services, contractors, and specialized repairs. · Assist with inventory management for maintenance supplies, materials, and equipment. · Communicate respectfully with participants using trauma-informed approaches when working in community areas. · Uphold confidentiality and respect participant privacy at all times. · Participate in team meetings, training, and continuous quality improvement activities. -Any Duties assigned by Operations Manager Pay: From $24.42 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week Benefits: Dental care On-site parking Vision care Licence/Certification: Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check (required) Driving Licence (required) First Aid Certification (preferred) CPR Certification (preferred) Work Location: In person
