NOW HIRING Experienced Diesel Mechanic / Technician (A Level) Payne Diesel | Jessup, Maryland Full-Time | Competitive Pay Based on Experience Payne Diesel is a growing commercial truck and fleet repair shop seeking an experienced, dependable Diesel Technician/Mechanic who can hit the ground running. We're building a strong team and looking for a skilled mechanic who takes pride in their work, can diagnose and complete repairs independently, and wants to be part of growing a professional, well-equipped repair facility. Responsibilities Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy-duty diesel trucks and commercial vehicles. Perform preventive maintenance, DOT-related inspections, and repairs. Repair brake systems, suspension, steering, electrical systems, and other mechanical components. Use diagnostic software and equipment to identify mechanical and electrical issues. Complete repairs efficiently while maintaining high safety and quality standards. Accurately document repairs, parts used, and labor performed. Work alongside the Shop Manager and assist less-experienced technicians when needed. Qualifications Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on heavy-duty diesel repair experience preferred. Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Experience with commercial trucks, including Mack, Peterbilt, International, and Cummins-powered equipment, is a plus. Familiarity with diesel diagnostic software and electrical systems. Must have a valid driver's license. Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail. ASE certifications and CDL are a plus, but not required.
