As a key member of the Maintenance Team, the Electrical & Instrumentation Planner will contribute to the overall success of the Upgrading and Utilities (U2) business unit by keeping backlog work orders on time with realistic and achievable planning initiatives. The role will participate in the overall development of the U2 Maintenance Plan, while ensuring that all Maintenance Planning activities in U2 support the wider business needs of Horizon Oil Sands Operations. Job location: Horizon Oil Sand - Fort McMurray, Alberta Shift schedule: 4x3, Monday – Thursday, 10-hour shifts Safety sensitive position: Yes Application deadline: October 20, 2026 Key Accountabilities: Plan and develop detailed E&I maintenance work packages, including scope definition, resource planning, scheduling, and execution support Coordinate with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, vendors, and other stakeholders to validate work scopes and ensure successful execution Manage work orders and maintenance backlogs, prioritizing tasks while maintaining accurate records, cost tracking, and data integrity Conduct field assessments, define job steps, create BOMs, identify materials and services, and manage procurement requirements Support outages, turnarounds, major maintenance projects, and the commissioning of new equipment through effective planning and PM setup Enhance equipment reliability and safety by integrating safety reviews, supporting preventive maintenance programs, and developing safe work practices Drive continuous improvement in maintenance planning, CMMS processes, inventory management, and provide coaching to junior planners What You Bring to the Role: Typically 5+ years of related industry experience with interprovincial red seal in Electrical and/or Instrumentation, Technical Diploma, University Degree or equivalent Planning certification and proactive leadership would be an asset Expertise in: Electrical & Instrumentation Planning Maintenance planning in an upgrader, refinery or other industrial plant setting Planning, budgeting and estimation Maximo or equivalent CMMS and Microsoft Office Suite Working in a fast-paced environment with a proactive mindset Excellent organization, time management, and communication skills What We Offer: Competitive salary, stock options, company matched stock savings plan, annual bonuses 100% Employer paid extended Health, Dental and Vision Benefits May be eligible for relocation pursuant to Canadian Natural’s Relocation Policy May be eligible for additional premiums Company Sponsored Fly-In/Fly-Out from Calgary or Edmonton, Alberta First class camp facilities Health & Wellness Spending Account Multiple volunteer opportunities within the community Employee & Family Assistance Program Check out our COMPENSATION & BENEFITS to learn more about what we have to offer!
