POSITION SUMMARY The Dispatcher is responsible for the day-to-day coordination and execution of MTRWestern’s transportation schedule. This position coordinates drivers, vehicles and work assignments to ensure scheduled service is staffed, communicated and executed safely and efficiently. The Dispatcher works closely with the Station Manager, Drivers and Maintenance to manage daily operational needs and promptly communicate changes or issues. This is an execution-focused position with no direct personnel management or department-level management responsibilities . ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSDispatch & Scheduling · Maintain daily driver and vehicle assignments in The Bus Network (TBN). · Review work tickets for accuracy and completeness prior to assigning drivers. · Distribute work assignments and operational information to drivers through the Driver Portal, text, email or other approved communication methods. · Monitor daily schedules and communicate changes, delays, cancellations and other operational updates. · Monitor driver-hour distribution and identify potential staffing or HOS conflicts. · Assist with driver and vehicle availability for scheduled work. · Escalate scheduling, staffing and operational issues to the Station Manager. Driver & Vehicle Coordination · Serve as a primary point of contact for drivers during assigned shifts. · Coordinate with Maintenance regarding vehicle availability and service requirements. · Update vehicle assignments when equipment becomes unavailable. · Communicate vehicle or schedule changes to affected drivers. · Monitor Samsara information and make routine HOS updates in accordance with company procedures. · Identify and escalate safety, HOS or operational concerns to management. Operational Support · Provide after-hours dispatch coverage as assigned. · Assist with large events and significant movements as needed. · Assist with field operations when required. · Maintain accurate information in TBN and other company systems. · Perform other duties related to daily dispatch and operational coordination as assigned. AUTHORITY & ACCOUNTABILITY The Dispatcher is responsible for executing the daily operating plan within established company procedures. The Dispatcher may: · Assign drivers and vehicles within established schedules. · Make routine operational adjustments necessary to execute scheduled work. · Communicate directly with drivers regarding daily assignments. · Identify and escalate operational issues. The Dispatcher does not: · Hire, terminate or formally discipline employees. · Approve or reject employee PTO. · Approve payroll or employee expenses. · Manage Drivers, Maintenance or Wash Crew. · Establish departmental budgets or financial targets. · Manage the company’s safety program or OSHA compliance. · Establish long-term operational strategy or departmental goals. PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS Success in this position is measured by: · Accurate and timely driver and vehicle assignments. · Effective execution of the daily operating schedule. · Clear and timely communication. · Accurate company system records. · Identification and escalation of operational issues. · Compliance with company safety, HOS and operating procedures. QUALIFICATIONS · Previous dispatch, transportation, logistics or operations experience preferred. · Strong organizational and communication skills. · Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. · Ability to make sound decisions within established procedures. · Computer proficiency and ability to learn company systems. · Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays as operational needs require.
