We have an exciting opportunity for a Dispatcher to join our growing logistics team in Milton Ontario. This will be a challenging and rewarding position for the successful candidate and we look forward to reviewing all qualified applicants. Compensation: $50,000-$55,000 depending on experience Shift: Mon-Fri 1:00pm-10:00pm Position Purpose: 1. To ensure accurate, effective, and responsible planning and coordinating of drivers, picks ups, deliveries, and equipment maintenance. 2. Provide strong leadership, direction, training and prioritize tasks for the support dispatchers. 3. Accurately and rapidly resolve service issues to help mitigate delays. 4. Ensure all driver and equipment resources are being used effectively. 5. Oversee, support and direct yard coordinator, shunters, and Walmart liaise 6. Assist in the training and monitoring of Support Dispatcher, Milton performance 7. Be available for weekend coverage rotation and to monitor the phones after hours when required. 1. Clear communications with drivers, colleagues, vendors, and customers to ensure on time performance by: · Strong leadership including the ability to motivate drivers, colleagues, and yard staff · Provide continuous monitoring of all drivers on route for the local service center. · Maintain positive, caring, and supportive communications with drivers. · Develop routing and maintain contact with drivers throughout the day. · Collaborate with dispatch team to modify daily routes to accommodate the needs of customers. · Cultivate strong professional relationships with drivers, colleagues, and customers. · Monitor any sudden route changes, weather delays or road construction issues and work with drivers to establish new routes for on time performance. · Managing hour-to-hour, day-to-day dispatch · Effectively plan and prioritize all loads making best use of equipment and drivers while meeting service requirements. · Build and maintain a positive work environment where team members and their contributions are recognized and valued. · Communicates all relevant details of driving assignments to drivers to ensure proper execution. · Liaise with clients: receive and confirm details of orders, maintain effective proactive client communications as needed. · Use and support Motive; reports, KPI’s and incentives programs. · Arrange appointments and scheduling. 2. Keep organized and accurate records relating to overall dispatch and routing responsibilities by: · Enter, manage, and dispatch all orders within operations software. · Liaise with equipment to arrange for maintenance, spare vehicles and ensure repairs are completed to vehicles. · Notify authorities and complete appropriate internal reporting for vehicle accidents and incidents · Monitor the location of vehicles in the yards · Verify the departure and return of drivers and vehicles 3. Other Duties: · Support 3PL logistics department as required; training provided · Perform emergency dispatch duties during high volume call times and staffing shortages. · Performing other duties as assigned from time to time by management. · Follow and enforce all procedures and procedures reporting any issues to management · Contribute to all improvements i.e., processes, procedures, and policies. Qualifications: Knowledge · Strong working knowledge in the transportation industry · Strong knowledge of North American geography Skills and Abilities · Ability to work in a team environment in high pressure situations -MUST HAVE FRONT LOAD EXPERIENCE · Strong written and oral communication skills are essential · Ability to listen, speak and communicate effectively, often in some state of distress. · High degree of proficiency in MS Outlook, MS Excel, and MS Word. · Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, a…
