SPIRIT TRANSPORT SYSTEMS, INCClassification Hourly Non-Exempt Location Kent, Washington Range of Pay $33.00 - $39.00 per hour DOE Schedule Full time - Early Morning Shift Preferable Position Summary The Dispatcher coordinates daily transportation services safely and efficiently while providing responsive customer service. This position assigns and monitors shipments, communicates with drivers and customers, and keeps order and shipment information accurate in company systems. The Dispatcher must prioritize changing demands, make timely operational decisions within established procedures, and promptly escalate issues that need management support. Essential Duties and Responsibilities · Coordinate daily dispatch activity, including driver availability, route and appointment assignments, shipment priorities, and changes caused by delays or disruptions. · Balance customer commitments with driver capacity, equipment availability, traffic, mileage, and estimated trip times when planning and adjusting loads. · Monitor driver punctuality, shipment progress, and service performance; communicate safety or compliance concerns promptly to the appropriate leader. · Communicate clearly and regularly with drivers and customers by phone, text, email, and approved systems about instructions, status, delays, changes, and resolutions. · Respond promptly to customer questions and service concerns; resolve routine issues professionally and escalate significant issues as needed. · Enter orders accurately and track and trace shipments from assignment through completion. · Keep the transportation management system current with detailed notes about customer and driver interactions, shipment updates, and actions taken. · Review order details, dispatch records, and shipment updates for accuracy and completeness; follow up to correct missing or inconsistent information. · Update customer websites and portals and research shipment information using internet-based systems as needed. · Work with Safety and Compliance, Billing, Operations, and other departments to resolve service, documentation, equipment, or driver-related issues. · Provide after-hours or emergency dispatch support when required by business needs and the established coverage schedule. · Perform other related duties as assigned. · Required Qualifications · Prior dispatch experience in trucking, transportation, logistics, drayage, or a closely related environment. · Strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills, including professional communication by phone and email. · Experience with Profit Tools or a comparable transportation management system. · Experience with intermodal or drayage operations, port and rail activity, or shipment documentation workflows. · Dependable and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple time-sensitive tasks and adapt to changing priorities. · Sound judgment and the ability to make timely decisions in a fast-paced environment. · Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office, including Outlook and Excel; proficient typing and accurate data entry. · Ability to receive direction and feedback and collaborate across departments. Preferred Qualifications · Knowledge of Pacific Northwest cities, roads, traffic patterns, mileage, and estimated trip times.
