Job Summary

The Director of Game Operations is responsible for working with the Athletics Chief Operating Officer in the planning, coordination, and execution of all home athletics events for East Tennessee State University Athletics. The position oversees game operations, facility preparation, coordination of game officials, management of event staff, and oversight of external facility rentals. The Director ensures a first-class environment for student-athletes, coaches, officials, fans, and external partners while maintaining compliance with conference and NCAA regulations. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment 
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with coaches, administrators, officials, and external partners 
  • Commitment to providing exceptional customer service and event experience 

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution 
  • Experience in athletics event management, facility operations, or a related field 
  • Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills 
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required by athletics schedules  

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Master's degree in Sports Management, Athletic Administration, Business, or related field (highly preferred) 
  • Experience in Division I Athletics 
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and collegiate athletics operations 
  • Supervisory experience
