Director of Finance Job Description LOCATION: South Bend, IN or Chicago, IL (with travel as required) Hybrid REPORTS TO: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) COMPANY OVERVIEW We are a manufacturing and sales group headquartered in the United States, with manufacturing facilities strategically located in both the US and China mainland. Our products are distributed across major US regions, Japan, India and Europe. As we continue to scale our business footprint and optimize our cross-border operations, we are seeking a highly strategic, entrepreneurial, and bilingual Finance Director to establish our corporate financial framework and drive operational excellence. The Finance Director will serve as a strategic business partner to the CEO and executive leadership team. This role will build the corporate financial framework, lead ERP selection and implementation, and provide financial insights to support operations and growth. The Director will oversee US finance and coordinate with the China Finance Director and local tax advisors to establish consistent management reporting, controls, and performance review processes. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Financial Infrastructure & System Implementation: Design, implement, and optimize the group’s financial framework, accounting policies, and internal controls. Lead the evaluation, selection, and hands-on implementation of management software and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. Strategic Business Partnering & Financial Analysis: Act as a strategic partner to business units. Analyze company operations, manufacturing metrics, and commercial performance to provide actionable insights that optimize profitability, cost-efficiency, and business growth. Manufacturing Cost and China Finance Coordination: Oversee manufacturing and assembly cost accounting, inventory valuation, and warehouse cost reporting. Supervise and coordinate with the China Finance Director to align management reports, budgets, reporting timelines, and key performance indicators. Review financial results and follow up on variances and control issues. China statutory accounting and local tax compliance will be handled by the China finance team and local tax advisors. Supply Chain & Project Cost Management: Lead project-based financial control for global orders by defining key control points across the international supply chain. Partner with logistics to manage multi-modal freight costs, driving cost-saving initiatives and ensuring full visibility into order delivery status worldwide. Treasury & Cash Flow Management: Monitor, forecast, and optimize cash flow, working capital, and capital allocation strategies to support international operations and expansion. Compliance Tax and Audit Coordination: Oversee US accounting and tax compliance across multiple US entities, working with external CPA firms and tax advisors. Coordinate audits and financial compliance activities with the China Finance Director and local advisors. Partner with logistics, customs brokers, and trade specialists to monitor import costs and financial controls related to international trade. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive corporate finance and accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a senior financial management role (e.g., Finance Director, Controller, or equivalent) within the manufacturing sector. Education & Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. A professional accounting certification (CPA, CMA, or equivalent) is highly preferred. Technical Expertise: Proven experience building financial processes and internal controls and leading ERP implementations, including requirements definition, system selection, data migration, testing, and rollout.
