Universal Health is seeking a highly organized, results-driven Director of Clinical Operations to lead and optimize day-to-day operations for our Advanced Practice Provider (APP) team. This leadership role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced healthcare environments, enjoys solving operational challenges, and is passionate about building efficient systems that support providers and patient care.
The Director of Clinical Operations will oversee provider scheduling, productivity, workflow efficiency, quality metrics, and operational communication across the organization. This position plays a key role in ensuring our clinical teams are supported, compliant, and positioned for success.
Key Responsibilities
Scheduling & Workforce Management
- Oversee daily APP scheduling across assigned facilities and service lines
- Manage vacation, PTO, and sick leave coverage to maintain continuity of care
- Lead and administer the provider on-call program
- Reduce vacant provider coverage days through proactive planning
Operational Efficiency & Productivity
- Track and analyze key productivity and performance metrics
- Ensure standard workflows and operational processes are consistently followed
- Identify barriers to efficiency and implement action plans for improvement
- Serve as the primary contact for non-clinical operational concerns within the APP team
Quality, Compliance & Documentation
- Monitor documentation standards to ensure regulatory and billing compliance
- Track timeliness of notes, billing completion, and communication metrics
- Partner with compliance and administrative teams on audits and process improvements
Leadership & Administrative Coordination
- Act as liaison between APP staff and executive leadership
- Support strategic planning and operational initiatives
- Collaborate on EHR optimization and workflow enhancements
Staff Engagement & Communication
- Conduct regular check-ins with APP team members regarding workload, scheduling, and support needs
- Participate in team meetings and provide operational updates
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; healthcare administration, business, nursing, or related field preferred
- 3+ years of healthcare operations, provider management, or clinical administration experience
- Strong scheduling/logistics and workforce management experience
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Experience with EHR systems, reporting dashboards, and productivity metrics preferred
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare setting
