Role:
The Mortgage Closer oversees the final stages of the mortgage process by preparing complete, error free closing packages, verifying fee accuracy, and ensuring all disclosures meet regulatory and investor standards. This role serves as the central point of coordination between members, loan officers, processors, and settlement partners to deliver a smooth, timely closing experience while maintaining strong member satisfaction, consistent funding performance, and top tier quality audit results.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
40% Closing Package Quality Review: Ensure all closing documentation is complete, accurate, and fully compliant prior to release. Conduct a thorough audit of digital and automated document outputs to confirm error free closing packages and alignment with internal policies and regulatory standards.
40% Closing Disclosure (CD) Preparation & Fee Accuracy: Enter and verify closing fees within the loan origination and settlement platforms. Collaborate with settlement agents to balance all figures, validate fee accuracy, and confirm all required invoices are scheduled for payment at closing. Utilize E-Closing and collaboration tools to maintain real time accuracy and transparency.
10% Member, Loan Officer, and Settlement Coordination: Serve as a proactive liaison between members, loan officers, processors, and title/settlement partners to ensure a smooth closing experience. Anticipate potential issues, resolve discrepancies promptly, and maintain clear communication to prevent delays.
10% Underwriting & Post Closing Condition Review: Review and satisfy underwriting closing conditions. Prepare and route any required post closing documentation to clear outstanding deficiencies, ensuring a clean, salable loan file for secondary market delivery
Performance Measurements:
Must comply with government and other regulations affecting the credit union industry including, but not limited to, OFAC and the Bank Secrecy Act.
Meets or exceeds performance expectations as described in Essential Functions and Responsibilities.

Knowledge and Skills:
Experience: Three years to five years of similar or related experience.
Education: (1) A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.
Interpersonal Skills: Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is of a personal or sensitive nature. Motivating, influencing, and/or training others is key at this level. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.
Other Skills: Skill and ability to use and operate a keyboard (typewriter), computer, calculator, fax machine, copier and telephone. Skill and ability to read and understand financial statements, contracts, applications, computer printouts, manuals and other related materials. Must have the skill and ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel.
