Job Description: KEY Accountabilities: A member of Senior Management and Department Head Teams; Assist the Executive Director or designate in developing and coordinating the delivery of designated programs related to the Halifax Centre of Hope Community Services Program; Is responsible for clients and staff involved with CFS (Does PEAC); Oversees Open Arms Program and has weekly debriefing with Open Arms Program Supervisor Oversees Volunteer Program for Halifax Centre of Hope Ensures Payroll for supervised staff is accurate and input into Ultipro Participates in hiring, orientating, training and evaluating of CFS employees; Liaises with community resources and encourage community involvement in programs. Monitors and ensures staff safety practices in compliance with health and safety. Standards, and prepares, submits and acts on incident reports; identifies proactive safety measures to the supervisor based on needs and concerns Ensures that staff maintains the security of the CFS worksite. Provides statistical and evaluative information to management levels when required. Weekly debriefing with the Executive Director or designate as needed; Daily debriefing with CFS staff when possible On Call (must be available for emergencies) Foster Teamwork – Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, make decisions that enhance organizational effectiveness; Lead – Positively influences others to achieve results that are in the best interest of the Organization; Network with Non-Salvation Army Agencies, Government and Community Service Providers to coordinate resources for the clients/residents and programs; Performs other duties as assigned. FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT: Involved during annual budget preparations as it regards the Community and Family Services Program Budget; As a member of senior management would have say in final budget submission. Working Conditions: The incumbent’s work environment is typically at work sites within various residential or community settings. The incumbent will work under the following disagreeable conditions: dealing with angry and abusive people, verbal abuse, odours, and exposure to drugs and alcohol. Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion. Education and experience Qualifications: Ordained Minister with The Salvation Army and/Or Lay person with training in the Social Services Field is preferred; Completion of University degree – (eg. BSW, B.A, B.Sc, B.Sc.N. or equivalent of education and experience; Non-violent crisis intervention (NVCI), Suicide Intervention (ASSIST), Standard First Aid or a commitment to secure those requirements within six months of being hired. Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements One year to three years of prior related experience, including experience with direct counseling in an applicable social service field; Strong understanding of community development and a demonstrated ability to create and foster strong relationships with community partners resulting in mutually …
