DSP – CDS Transportation & Afternoon Support Location: Glen Burnie, MD → Randallstown, MD Schedule: Monday–Friday, 3:00 PM–4:00 PM Hours: 5 hours per week Pay: $30 per hour We are seeking a reliable, responsible, and safety-focused Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide afternoon transportation and transition support for an individual receiving DDA services. Position Responsibilities The primary responsibility of this position is to pick up the individual from their CDS program in Glen Burnie, MD at 3:00 PM and safely transport them to their home in Randallstown, MD . The DSP will: Arrive at the CDS program on time and be prepared to provide safe, dependable transportation home. Safely transport the individual from Glen Burnie to Randallstown , following all Maryland traffic laws and safe-driving practices. Provide appropriate supervision and support during transportation. Maintain a calm, respectful, and supportive environment throughout the transition from the CDS program to home. Assist the individual with getting settled into their home and transitioning appropriately into their afternoon/evening routine . Communicate important information from the CDS program to the individual's family, including relevant updates about the individual's day, changes in routine, concerns, incidents, or information that may affect the remainder of the day. Communicate professionally with CDS staff and family members to ensure continuity of support. Maintain appropriate documentation or shift records as required. Support the individual's independence, choice, dignity, and safety throughout the shift. Safe Driving Is a Priority Because transportation is the primary responsibility of this position, safe and responsible driving is essential . The DSP must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, appropriate automobile insurance, and a safe driving history. The DSP is expected to: Drive defensively and follow all traffic laws. Never use a cell phone or engage in distracted driving while transporting the individual. Ensure the individual is safely secured in the vehicle before beginning transportation. Maintain appropriate attention to the individual's safety and needs while traveling. Report any transportation-related concerns promptly. Communication & Family Handoff This position plays an important role in connecting the individual's CDS program and home environment . The DSP should communicate relevant information from the CDS staff to the family so that the family is aware of how the individual's day went and any information they may need to know. The DSP should be comfortable communicating respectfully with both CDS staff and family members and recognizing when information needs to be passed along immediately. Requirements Valid driver's license and reliable, insured vehicle Safe and responsible driving history Ability to pass required background checks CPR/First Aid certification through an approved training program Ability to communicate effectively with the individual, CDS staff, and family Dependable attendance and punctuality Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred Mandt/CMT or other required training, depending on the individual's support needs Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is someone who is dependable, patient, safety-conscious, and an excellent communicator .
