We specialize in heavy-duty diesel diagnostics and repair and we're looking for a skilled diesel mechanic ready to do their best work in a shop that invests in its people. What You'll Do Diagnose and repair common rail fuel systems, DEF/DPF, and turbochargers Perform diesel-specific brakes, suspension, differential, and drivetrain repairs Complete major engine work — head gaskets, timing components, internal assemblies Use advanced diagnostic equipment to identify and resolve drivability issues Log all work in Tekmetric (or similar shop management software) Mentor junior technicians and earn bonus pay for doing it Requirements 3+ years of diesel repair experience 2–4 ASE Certifications (diesel-relevant preferred) Experience diagnosing diesel electrical and mechanical systems Own core toolset (specialty tools available through our program) Valid driver's license and clean driving record Preferred (Not Required) 5+ ASE Certifications or on track within 12 months Expertise in DEF, DPF, turbocharging, or common rail fuel delivery Experience with Tekmetric or similar shop software 75%+ productivity history in a flat-rate or production environment We're Also Looking For: Shop Foreman Candidate What this means at SVP: Our shop runs on cold handoffs. A tech calls out. A job is mid-diagnosis. A vehicle needs to go out the door by 3pm. The person we're describing can read an open RO in Tekmetric, assess what's been done, what's left, and what's critical — and execute without a full brief. That is the foreman standard. Beyond the diesel technician role, we're looking for something harder to find: a technician with the instincts of a shop foreman. Not a title — a mindset. If you can walk into a job at any stage and own it, this section is for you. Starting Point Midway Handoff Finishing Point Vehicle arrives with no prior work. You perform the full intake, read the DVIR, customer concern, and vehicle history in Tekmetric. Build the diagnostic plan from zero and communicate it to the service writer before touching the vehicle. Vehicle is mid-diagnosis or mid-repair. Prior tech's notes are in the RO. Parts may be staged. Something may be disassembled. Read the RO, assess what's done and what's left, identify any gaps or concerns, and continue without re-doing completed work or losing time. Vehicle is near completion. Final checks, documentation, and quality control remain. Verify all work matches the RO, perform a road test or final inspection, close the RO correctly in Tekmetric, and communicate return-to-service status to the service writer. Leadership Qualities We're Looking For Cold handoff capable: Can read any open RO in Tekmetric mid-job and continue without a verbal brief — start, middle, or finish Situational awareness: Scans the shop floor and identifies what's stalled, what's at risk of missing a deadline, and what needs a second set of hands — without being asked Communication over assumption: Flags concerns to the service writer before proceeding on anything unclear — never guesses on a customer's behalf Technician developer: Naturally steps in to show, not just tell — willing to work alongside a junior tech to close a skill gap rather than just re…
